Nisha Shoukath: Breaking Barriers, Building Legacies

Forging a Path Beyond Limits

Nisha is a visionary entrepreneur, technology leader, and advocate for women’s empowerment. As the President & COO of People10, a multi-million-dollar global technology company, she has defied societal expectations to become a pioneer in digital transformation and leadership.

Born into a conservative family in a closed society, Nisha grew up in a world of limitations and expectations. From an early age, she believed there was a larger world beyond the one she was told to accept. Books introduced her to stories of women who shaped industries, built businesses, and redefined success, fueling her determination to conquer a world beyond societal norms.

Though her passion lay in creativity and fashion, societal pressures steered her toward a career in technology. Embracing the path ahead, she pursued a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Computer Applications, developing a deep foundation in software development and emerging technologies—a decision that would later pave the way for her entrepreneurial journey.

Overcoming Adversity: A Journey of Strength

By 23, Nisha was married, and by 24, she had her child. By 28, she was a single mother, having escaped an abusive marriage. At 30, she faced financial struggles, raising her child alone without emotional support. While society often viewed single mothers with pity or judgment, Nisha saw an opportunity to rewrite her narrative, focusing on strength and perseverance.

Determined to rebuild her life, she invested in education, earning global certifications from Stanford, MIT, and PMI, alongside her Master’s in Computer Applications, becoming an expert in technology, business, and strategy. She then built a thriving corporate career in a male-dominated industry, proving herself through sheer determination and excellence. By 35, she had risen to Senior Vice President of a multinational corporation, leading global technology initiatives and large-scale digital transformation projects. Through relentless ambition and an unwavering belief in herself, she broke every barrier society had placed before her, but she wasn’t done yet.

Entrepreneurship: From Zero to a Global Technology Enterprise

With no external funding or safety net, Nisha built People10, driven by her belief in technology’s transformative power. The early years were demanding, marked by 16-hour workdays managing operations, sales, and finance, all while raising her child alone. She faced skepticism in male-dominated boardrooms, where her ability to lead a global tech company was questioned.

However, within 12 months, she defied expectations by onboarding 18 clients with exceptional retention, achieving profitable operations without external investment, and expanding her customer base across the USA, UK, Australia, and the Middle East. Today, People10 is a multi-million-dollar technology company, delivering cutting-edge enterprise solutions for industries like Airlines, Healthcare, Banking, Manufacturing, Insurance, and Retail. The company specializes in AI & Data Analytics, IoT & Automation, DevOps & SecOps, Information Security, and Cloud & Infrastructure, providing scalable solutions for digital transformation. Under Nisha’s leadership, People10 has transformed businesses across industries, demonstrating the global impact of technology and innovation.

Breaking Barriers in Male-Dominated Boardrooms

For years, Nisha navigated boardrooms as often the sole woman, her voice a distinct presence in male-dominated executive meetings and high-stakes negotiations. She spearheaded multi-million-dollar deals in environments where men anticipated her failure, and while others received handed opportunities, she relentlessly fought for every victory.

Refusing to yield, she consistently spoke up, challenged biases, and made her presence undeniable. She led by example, demonstrating that women not only belong at the table but also at its head. Furthermore, she built a leadership team that prioritized inclusivity, ensuring that other women never experienced the isolation she once did. Her unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion has fundamentally reshaped how businesses recruit, retain, and empower female leaders.

Empowering Women: A Mission Beyond Business

Nisha, having overcome significant personal and professional obstacles, has made it her mission to ensure no woman builds success in isolation. At People10, she’s embedded gender diversity at every level: 40% of the workforce—including leadership—are women; the company has been awarded Best Place to Work & Best Place to Work for Women; and she mentors women to break barriers and claim leadership roles.

But this mission extends beyond her company—it’s about changing the global narrative for women in business, technology, and leadership. She believes that women don’t need external validation. Success comes from self-belief, education, and resilience. Societal expectations don’t define a woman’s potential. Hard work, knowledge, and vision do. Once a woman breaks barriers, she must lift others up. True success is measured by how many others she empowers.

A Return to Creativity: Embracing Passion Alongside Business

Even after building a global technology company, Nisha never stopped learning—or dreaming. In 2022, she studied Fashion Business at FIT, New York, one of the world’s most prestigious fashion institutes. Currently, she is pursuing a degree in Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni, Dubai, further embracing her lifelong passion. For her, creativity fuels leadership, innovation, and problem-solving. Whether in technology or fashion, she believes in pushing boundaries, taking risks, and following passion relentlessly. Her story proves that women don’t have to choose between business and creativity—they can excel at both.

A Legacy of Leadership & Lifelong Learning

One thing has remained constant throughout Nisha’s journey: she never stops learning. Even after decades of success, she continues to expand her knowledge and expertise. This includes her Bachelor’s & Master’s in Computer Applications, which formed her foundation in technology, certifications from Stanford, MIT, and PMI, demonstrating her expertise in AI, business strategy, and emerging technologies, and advanced studies in Fashion Business & Design, pursuing her childhood passion alongside her career. She believes that education is the ultimate tool for empowerment—and that when women invest in their own growth, they gain the confidence to change the world.

Final Thoughts: A Message to Women Who Dare to Dream

From a broke single mother at 30 to the President & COO of a multi-million-dollar global company, Nisha is proof that women can achieve anything—no matter their starting point. Her journey is a testament to fearless ambition, unshakable resilience, and the power of self-belief. She continues to inspire women worldwide to dream boldly, build fearlessly, and break barriers unapologetically. Because the future belongs to those who believe, build, and break boundaries.
